Golden State Warriors Wins NBA Championship, After 40 Years

Around 10 hours ago, people from all over the world were glued to their televisions for the 2015 NBA Finals. Everyone, of course, were praying and hoping for their teams – Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers – to win. But after a very intense game, the Warriors came out the stronger and more powerful team with a 105-97 scoring. This is despite the Cavaliers’ frontman LeBron James’ score of 32 points in the finals alone.

The last time the Golden State Warriors brought home the NBA Championship trophy was in 1975. So, winning the game versus the mighty LeBron James and his teammates in the 2014-2015 NBA Finals is definitely the best thing that happened to Stephen Curry and company this year.

During this year’s Finals, the GSW won four games to two. They won the last three games before today’s finals. Steve Kerr, coach of the Warriors said, “They were all in it just to win… This is an amazing group of guys.”

This victory wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for NBA regular season MVP Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala’s efforts, each scoring 25 points. But the whole team played well in the last few games of the season.

Curry showed great leadership and impeccable ball-handling skills today with eight assists, three steals and five rebounds. Iguodala also displayed terrific skills on the court. And his move back into the starting lineup in Game 4 helped his team bag the championship. This has led him to become the NBA Finals MVP, which is a first in the history of NBA to give such an award to a player who didn’t start any game during the regular season.

While the Warriors are relishing in their win, LeBron James and his team could now be grieving for their loss. Many people couldn’t believe that the Cavaliers would lose the championship to the Warriors as the latter team was leading in the first three games with all the confidence and strength. However, the GSW pushed their players and asserted their dominance, leading to their sweet victory.
