Surely many of you already know the famous Oculus Rift, although it’s not the only one of its kind, Samsung also introduced an alternative compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 called Gear VR. Neither we can forget the curious low cost alternative proposed by Google using cardboard to build up our own virtual reality system.

Carl Zeiss’ VR One stands for being the first option which is compatible not only with the Apple phone but also with Android phones whose screen are between 4.7 inches and 5.2 inches (so the iPhone 6 Plus‘ kicked out of the list).

Although the compatible content with this accessory’s very limited, the VR One’ based on an open platform where developers can work for free thanks to the SDK the company will provide. If it gets a good reception, it’s a matter of time that we see more and more games, videos or images compatible with this augmented reality technology.

The potential of these devices is very large and the possibilities are many and varied. With the proliferation of an increasingly powerful phone hardware we can have the opportunity to purchase devices like the VR One at a much more affordable price, taking advantage of the capabilities offered by our mobile devices so we avoid making the final product too expensive.

Wit a cost of $99, Carl Zeiss VR One should be available at the end of this year, with the first units ready for the Christmas season. Meanwhile, you can reserve your unit and the manufacturer’s website.
