Artworks That Took Creativity to a Different Level

Sculptures are works of art that depict various aspects of life. But some artists tend to take it to a different level of creativity that borders funny or bizarre. Some installations, however, are just plain amazing.

Salmon Sculpture

The Salmon Sculpture in Portland, Oregon is not your typical fish statue built on a water fountain and water coming out of its mouth. It is a huge golden salmon that was made to look as though it is passing through the side of the building, except that it got stuck at some point. At first glance, you would be worried about how the occupants managed to live with the salmon stuck in between.

People of the River

Art, they say, imitates life, and the work of Chong Fah Cheong is definitely something you must check out when in Singapore. Set right next to the Singapore River are life-size statues of young children playing on the banks and then taking a plunge into the river, with one child already hanging halfway down. It is one of the most favorite subjects of locals and visitors alike.

The Shoes on the Danube Bank

Made by Can Togay and Gyula Pauer, The Shoes on the Danube Bank is so life-like, it has an almost eerie concept behind it. All those shoes left of the bank is practically open to interpretation and one thing that would quickly come to mind is that the owners took a swim and decided never to come back to get their shoes. Let’s just hope they made it to the other side or swam safely to other shores.

Break Through from Your Mold

The title of this artwork in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Zenos Frudakis is a literal interpretation. The entire scene shows how a woman slowly broke out of the wall where she was encased and reveled in her newfound freedom when she finally made it in the middle of the pavement.
