Taylor Swift: One of the Top Charitable Celebs for 2014

Taylor Swift is a young, beautiful and uber talented artist who’s famous around the world for her hit songs like White Horse and Blank Space to name a few. What not a lot of people know is that she’s DoSomething.org’s most charitable celebrity for three years in a row now. In fact, she’s topped A-listers like Beyonce, Emma Watson and Laverne Cox.

Last year was a banner year for the 25-year-old musician, thanks to her award-winning album 1989, which sold over 1.2 million copies in its first week. Part of the promotion for her new record, Taylor released the single “Welcome to New York”. She then donated everything she earned from that song to New York City Public Schools. Talk about youth making good use for their money, right?

That was one of the reasons users of DoSomething.org voted Taylor Swift 2014’s the number one celebrity to do charitable deeds, which is an honor she has held since 2012.

Coming in at No. 2 is Laverne Cox, who is known for her vocal support for the LGBT community after landing a role in Netflix’s acclaimed series Orange Is the New Black.

On the No. 3 spot is Queen Bey herself, which is a spot ahead of Miley Cyrus at No. 4 and Emma Watson at No.5. What made Beyonce and Emma Watson bag their spots is that they brought “feminism to the forefront.”

Meanwhile, Miley earned the same recognition for shining light on homelessness. (Remember that time she took a homeless teen speak on her behalf at the MTV VMAs in August last year?)
